Lithium Ion batteries are lately preferred over lead acid , based on longer lifetime, increased
backup time and environment friendliness. Until now Li Ion Batteries, although widely used
in portable electronics, didn't penetrate the UPS market due to flammability concerns. This
issue is now mitigated by introduction of internal battery protection circuits.
