Emerson's APM Modular UPS Added to Energy Technology Product List (ETPL) Emerson Announces that its Liebert APM UPS line has achieved the Carbon Trust's Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) accreditation and been added to the Energy Technology Product List . Under ECA scheme, businesses purchasing products on the list are able to write-off the entire cost of the equipment against taxable profits in the year of purchase. The Liebert APM is a three phase scalable 15kVA to 90kVA modular UPS system aimed at small and medium sized computer rooms and data centers. Ametek Receives Multi Million Dollar Order to Supply UPS Systems to a Brazilian Refinery. Petroleo Brasileiro, SA, a Brazilian state-owned integrated oil and gas company, has awarded a multi-million-dollar contract to AMETEK Solidstate Controls, , to supply UPS systems for the Comperj oil refinery currently under construction in Itaborai, near Rio de Janero. The Comperj refinery is expected to start up in 2013 and have a projected heavy crude capacity totaling 330,000 barrels per day. Istockanalyst.com – 19, August. 2011
Vycon Introduces new Flywheel –Battery Combined Storage System. VYCON launches its Hybrid VDC XEB high-speed 300kW storage flywheel system, which combines flywheel technology with batteries in one integrated system. The system connects to the DC bus of a UPS, and is compatible with all major brands of three-phase UPS system. According to Vycon the flywheel extends battery lifetime, by reducing the number of outages and cycles the battery has to support by 98 percent, with the ability to extend flywheel backup time until power restoration or generator turn on. The company says that its flywheels do not require replacement of bearings; saving customers approximately $10,000 per flywheel every few years in maintenance costs. Marketwire- 8, August, 2011.
Trinergy UPS will save UK users £10m over next 5 years. Emerson claims that its Chloride Trinergy UPS will save of up to 80,000 tones of CO2, cutting energy bills by about £10,000,000 to UK businesses over the next five years. Trinergy algorithm optimizes costs by providing most efficient protective by selecting automatically either eco mode, power conditioned mode or double conversion mode. Trinergy UPS provides, according to Emerson, already more than 100MW backup power, 50% shared by German and UK users. Power –EETimes, 02, August , 2011. Emerson's quarterly report indicates strong growth in power and UPS Business. Emerson Network Power announces 19% third quarter 2011 sales increase, which included strong sales in the global UPS and precision cooling businesses, which were up in excess of 15%. Network Power Sales in the U.S. grew 5 percent, Europe 4 percent and Asia 7 percent, including 10 percent growth in China. Based on current world economy, Emerson expects that full-year margin for this segment will be down to approximately 11.5%. Marketwatch- 2, August, 2011
