UK Data center Professionals concerned about their ability to confront Power Reliability issues.
Kohler's Uninterruptible Power Supplies LTD survey of 2000 IT and data centre professionals
regarding the current energy state of in the UK., reveals, that over 75 percent of companies have
suffered power issues in the past twelve months, with 78 percent respondents agree that Reliability
of power will be a major concern in respondents' business in the next ten years.
OEMs are doing everything possible to reduce power consumption and increase energy efficiency
as a key selling point but this isn't enough, because there are serious doubts that UK's power

Flywheels, Ultracapacitors, Lithium Ion batteries and Fuel cells gain market share in  UPS  Market
Lux research , emerging technologies research firm,  forecasts  that off-grid storage market will
grow 36 percent over the next five years, from a size of $9.9 billion in 2011 to $13.5 billion in
2016, with a chance of 10% score of  flywheels and ultracapacitors of the datacenter UPS market
by 2016, says Lux, 6.8 percent by Lithium Ion Batteries. Data centers are expected to grow as
more and more devices and people get connected, while Cell phone base stations and telecom
networks will continue to get deployed as more people, particularly in the developing world, buy
cell phones. Lithium-ion batteries could gain 5.8 percent of the market for telecom backup
capacity by 2016, and fuel cells will gain a substantial share, too, mainly by telcos in rural and
isolated places.

Agreement to produce Mega Watt Lithium –Ion based UPS systems, replacing Lead Acid Backups
Russiand JSC Mobile GTES  and Federal Grid Company (FGC) of Unified Energy System today
announced that they have signed a strategic 5 year  framework agreement to contemplate the
manufacture of Enert1 lithium-ion-based UPS systems. This is a part of a five-year engineering
and framework agreement, providing anticipated initial capacity of 27.8 MW  back-up power for
internal substation needs for one hour, including switchgear, lighting, communications and other
needs.  The lithium-ion solution is intended to replace s lead acid solution, which according to the
PR is only able to back-up the switchgear for a short duration and does not provide back-up
power for any other internal substation needs.
