Beacon Power Flywheel Power Conversion and UPS Manufacturer Files for Bankruptcy.
Beacon Power, has filed for bankruptcy in the US Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware.
Beacon, which received US federal government backing of $43m in the company's loans,
explains the act on current economic and political climate, financing terms mandated by DOE,
and its recent delisting notice from Nasdaq, which have together restricted Beacon’s access to

Facebook Uses Cold ambient location for Data Center Cooling.
Facebook is building a new data centre in Luleå, North Sweden which has a sub-Artic climate
that will allow to use ambient cooling for eight to 10 months of the year, leading to a 12%
reduction in energy consumption. The data centre, that draws 70% of its power from
renewable sources, will house custom servers, software, Uninterruptible power supplies, and
other data centre equipment, based on the Open Compute Project, which specifies dual Xeon
5500 or AMD Opteron 6100 motherboards with 450w power supplies. Excess heat from the

New 2.1kV 1700A Fast Turn Off Thyristors Offer Increased Current Density.
IXYS Corporation subsidiary, Westcode Ltd, launches a High Voltage, 1700A distributed Gate
SCR family, offered with six turn-off (tq) options from 20usec to 60usec. The thyristors come
in two voltage classes. Part number R1700MC18 has Vdrm of 1.8kV and R1700MC21has Vdrm
2.1kV, both parts have Vrrm of 1.8kV. The new thyristors have a 56mm diameter giving up to

Energy Star Latest Draft of UPS Specification and Test Method
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released Draft 3 Version 1.0 of the
ENERGY STAR Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) specification and test method, requesting
Stakeholders to submit comments by 22, 11, 2011. EPA will host an online meeting on Nov, 8,

Global Fuel cell Industry to surpass $ 28Billion by 2017.
According to Pikereseach's new Report Global Fuel Cell industry experienced between 2008 to
20010 a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of roughly 27% , increasing from around $260
million in 2008 to nearly $670 million. During this term 50% of shipments were for stationary
applications. Pike Research forecasts that growth in the industry will accelerate rapidly beginning
in 2012, with strong growth anticipated over the next six years in numerous applications and
particularly for portable, cars and other transport applications. Based on the report Global fuel

AEG Inaugurates new 400MW solar inverter and UPS Factory.
AEG Power Solutions has inaugurated its new 400 megawatt (MW) solar inverter factory
in Bangalore, India. AEG’s PV.250 and PV.500 solar inverter series at the 80,000 square foot
facility was already built. The next stage will include UPS manufacturing designed for Data & IT
applications, is expected to start in the second quarter of 2012.

Frost & Sulivan : Asia Pacific UPS Data Center Market to Catch UP Green Technologies.
F&S Asia Pacific ( APAC ) market analysis reveals that total green spending of APAC countries
in 2009-10 was $342.00 billion, out of which, nearly 95.0% was contributed by China, South
Korea and Japan. Based on the analysis, World datacenter UPS market stands at $3,131.4 million,
APAC region accounting for nearly 33.0% of the total market share. The APAC data center UPS
market
is growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.3% from 2010 to 2017. In terms of
revenue, the share of Super Capacitor based UPS in APAC market is 2.5%, flywheel UPS is

Powerex launches low-profile split dual Si/SiC QID1210005 and QID1210006 hybrid 100A /
1200V Modules comprising two independent IGBT switches, which can be connected in series

Eaton launches its 9E UPS, a three phase 208/120V on line system, sized form 20kVA/16kW
to 60kVA/48KW. The UPS features up to 98% high efficiency mode and 92% efficiency in
double conversion mode, internal batteries, provide 21 minutes backup for 20kVA UPS and 5
minutes for 60 kVA ,which are expandable by external battery modules, and compact size of up
