Microchip Technology Inc announces 25%  performance increase to 50MIPS on its dsPIC33F
“GS” series of Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs), which include on-chip peripherals for digital-
power applications, such as an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), Pulse Width Modulation
(PWM) peripheral and analog comparators, used in UPS systems, Inverters, Battery Chargers,
Power Factor Correction, and other AC-to-DC, and  DC-to-DC Power-Conversion applications.

Power-Sonic Launches New  UPS Backup battery Series.
Power-Sonic, a manufacturer of sealed lead-acid batteries, has launched its new PHR series of
High Rate UPS Batteries, a new product designed specifically for the demanding high rate

US intends Doubling  Capacity of Geospacial-Intelligence Agency’s Data Center.
The US Army issued a notice for a Tier 2 data center in National Geospacial-Intelligence Agency’s
(NGA) campus in Springfield, Virginia . The Data center will include, two large uninterruptible
power supply (UPS) battery arrays, in addition to rotary UPS systems, to provide 99.741%, N+1
availability and power density of 150 watts per square foot. The IT equipment will be required to

APC Upgrades its MGE EPS 8000 UPS Performance with New Parallel Feature
APC announces upgrading its MGE EPS8000 555kVA to 800kVA UPS product family with the
ability to configure up to 3+1UPS modules without a centralized static switch cabinet. The feature
also offers smaller footprint and online efficiency of up to 94 percent at full load, including a new,
touch screen 12-inch Graphical User Interface, which enables users to monitor load and system
voltage module status, current number of modules on bus, and number of modules needed to
maintain system redundancy.

Active Power Receives 10 million Dollar Nine Megawatt UPS Order
Active Power, manufacturer of flywheel UPS systems receives a $10 million UPS order from  
Net Powersafe Switzerland to be delivered during 2012.  This order, which is the largest
companies single order to date,  consists of 10  Active Power Clean Source 1000 kVA UPS
systems, totaling nine megawatts of total rated UPS capacity, in addition to six Active Power
GenSTART generator starting modules; six standby diesel engines rated at 3.15 MVA each;
ancillary equipment; and services.

APC Launches Galaxy 300 Three Phase UPS for Low and medium Power
Global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, APC by Schneider Electric, has
launched Galaxy 300 UPS, which supplies  10 to 40kVA  using  three-phase double conversion
UPS, which \is fully RoHS (Restriction of the use of Hazardous Substances) compliant. The UPS
features. up to 93 percent efficiency, 30 minutes backup time, Internal mechanical bypass, ability  
to monitor and manage locally and remotely  power requirements through a simple web/SNMP
interface and a user-friendly display available in 18 languages.

World Market Report for UPS Service and Support.
IMS Research new "World Market for UPS Service and Support" report reveals that 40% of all
three-phase UPS systems in the field have a service contract attached, and will grow roughly 280
thousand at the end of 2011, to just over 350 thousand at the end of 2015, forming about 50% of
total service expanse. The growth is driven mainly by Asia where UPS shipments are expected to
grow by 10% per year over the next four years, and where traditionally the market preferred to
pay per service.

World UPS Market to Reach almost 15B by 2020.
Research and Markets report of global UPS market achieved revenues of $8.008B in 2010, with
a negative growth rate of 1.5% from the previous year, is expected to reach $14,875B by 2020.
The report provides detailed information, forecasts, trends and detailed analysis of leading
countries and business. The North American market based on the report was $2,811m in 2010,
with around 59% of revenues attributed to the below 20kVA. This tyrend is expected to continue
during the forecast as more customers look to secure power supply to the smallest equipment,

ABB Acquires Newave European Mid and High Power UPS manufacturer.
ABB  and Newave Energy Holding SA  have agreed that ABB will acquire Newave in an all-cash
transaction valued at CHF 170 million. Newave will will be  integrated in ABB"s  Discrete
Automation and Motion division will allow ABB, according to the announcement  to offer a
complete range of UPS solutions to industrial, commercial and datacenter clients with a AC  and
DC  solutions portfolio, reinforcing its strategic differentiation.
