C&D Technologies Receives Notice Regarding NYSE Listing

Equipment malfunction cited in power failure
Substation equipment malfunction caused one of the biggest non-weather related power failures to
hit Southern California Edison in recent years. More than 268,000 customers in a wide area of

Power Demand Shoots up causing power breakdown and frequency dips below safe margin.
Harsh summer heat setting in, the electricity demand in the New Delhi is shooting up simultaneously,
while the peak power demand touched almost 3,200MW, causing substation breakdown and load
shedding of 139MW. The grid frequency has also been tightened dipping below the safe margin of
49.2Hz a few times .

Google uncloaks its Server Backup Design.
Google reveals that each of its servers has its own built in 12V battery to protect it from power
outages. This method, according to Google provides 99.9 percent actual usage efficiency. The
efficiency is further improved by using a 12 V power supply, with the necessary conversion taking
place at the motherboard. Thus, increasing efficiency of transmitting power over copper wires at 12
volts compared to 5 volts.
