New Central Emergency Lightning UPS
Staco Energy Products Co introduces FirstLine® 924 three-phase Uninterruptible Power Supply
(UPS) for 20kW and 30 kW central emergency lighting system. The UPS systems automatically
transfer to battery power at power outage, providing a continuous power supply for 90 minutes, as
required by NFPA 101. Additionally, the systems protect the load from damaging sags, swells,
harmonics, noise, and voltage imbalances in the primary AC supply. Todays facility manager – 25,

Higher Data Center Temperature Renders Dramatic Energy Saving.
According to research, temperatures exceeding 100 degrees may not harm disk drives, says
Simonelli, chief technical officer at the Schneider Electric-owned APC, indicating that many big data
centers are running at close to 90 degrees. Thus, implementing virtualization, and working with less
servers, at higher temperatures, up to 50 percent of energy budget can be saved, just by changing the
set point from 68 (20°C) to 80 degrees (27°C). PCworld – 15, June 2009
IMS : UPS Revenues Fall Sharply in 1Q09
According to IMS Research results global UPS revenues in the first quarter of 2009 fell by nearly
25% from the same quarter last year, to under $1.5 billion. Single-phase market suffered most, but
lately a drastic fall is evidenced in the High Power systems as projects came to completion and new
orders are slowed. IMS expects this market to show future growth driven by computing
requirements, power quality issues, and infrastructure stimulus. PressReleasePoint -12 , June, 2009

NTT Group implements switching Data Centers to DC Power.
At Darnell’s Green Building Power Forum. NTT Group informed that over 90% of the CO2 Group
emissions are from power consumption. Thus, in 1997 it launched a campaign aimed to reduce
power consumption, which will be implemented by phased switching, from 2010 to 300V and 400V
DC Power Supplies, in its Data centers. Powerpulse – 8, June 2009
